Bye Bye Braces!

of metal mouth, we went to Jake's favorite
eatery PANDA EXPRESS!

Thanks to Uncle Grant, our amazing orthodontist
(@ Walton Orthordontics in Casa Grande) Jake has an
amazing straight smile to go along with his
good looks!

Ryan turns 12!

For Ryan's 12th Birthday he chose to go
to Zachary's Pizza, by the U of A and to
see Captain America with a few friends.

After pizza, and popcorn and candy at the movies,

we went back home to eat some more! Donut cake!

Jake's Eagle Scout Project

Jake completed his Eagle Scout project at Marana
High School the weekend before he started
his freshman year there.

He organized an effort to clean up the landscaping
and plant 14 new trees in front of the school, as
well as re-paint the front gate.

The trees were donated by an organization
called "Trees Please", as well at Lowes and
he received donations from Fry's and Walmart
to buy some of the food for breakfast and
lunch which we served to all those who helped out.

Aubrey, Hailey and I mostly helped with painting the gate

and getting food ready!

It was a very hot day to be outside painting, but we
had tons of help and no complaints.

Bro. Scarber provided and cooked up hot dogs for the

crew!

And John made his famous chili, of course, which is always
a big hit!

Each day Jake goes to school for the next
four years, he will get to watch the trees
grow and know that he was a part of making
his school a better place for everyone. We are
so proud of him!

neighbors and ward members for all your help!

Back to School

You can't tell from these photos, but the kids
were actually very excited for the first day of
school.

Hailey is now in 2nd grade and Aubrey is in 4th.

Ryan is the big 6th grader! I couldn't tell
he was making a face for the picture-its
the old man face.

Jake is in High School now, 9th grade.
He is also making the old man face...

but at least I caught it and made him
take another photo. Jake's school starts
later than the other kids, 9am! But with
Seminary at 7:30am, he will have to leave
just before them.

We all went to the elementary school to see off the kids,
even Jake came (a little reluctantly- since he is a big
high school kid now)

Ryan was not as miserable as he looks!
They all came home from their first day
so excited for their new teachers who
were all super nice, and ready to start
the new school year.

California Vacation

We went to California for my niece's wedding on the
beach in Santa Barbara.

Aubrey & Hailey with their cousin Shaelyn.

Mady and Billy were so sweet and so happy!

After the reception, the kids were dying to go to the beach.
We were only 5 minutes away so we met the Braithwaite
cousins there and they jumped in the waves and played
in the water until night time.

My sister Staci and I were the towel girls
helping the kids when they got sand in their eyes
and mouths,and inside their bathing suits and every
where else sand seems to hide!

We managed to sneak in a day at Knotts Berry Farm

before we left.

Hailey went on all the fast, scary rides- even some I

was scared to go on! She was Fearless!

This was in front of a hot dog place, and we

thought it was hallarious! Jake and Hailey

are the kid hot dogs, and Aubrey and Ryan

are the mom and dad.

John was Hailey's riding buddy all day!

We spent a day in Thousand Oaks where I grew up, and
got to go to church in my old ward, see my old house,
and visit all my schools from elementary to high school.

But the best part of the day was spending some time
with my good friend Minette and her family!

Aubrey's Duathlon

Aubrey has been in a running club at school
and part of the deal was to participate in
an organized race. So she was in a duathlon
for our community. Her first race ever!

She ran, then biked and then ran again. I considered
doing it with her,but I knew I couldn't keep up with her!

I was so proud of her!

Christmas Traditions

One of our favorite family Christmas traditions
is going to Grandma's house and decorating
mini gingerbread houses.

The cousins all come and they have a great time
creating their masterpieces.

We know, not all the candy makes it onto the

houses!

Fall Update

It's been a while since I have posted any
photos, so here is what we have been up
to this fall.

We celebrated Ryan's b-day late, and Jake's a
little early at the Cheesecake Factory. They
have wanted to go there for months and
it did not disappoint!

The cheesecake was HUGE!

Ryan performing in his school orchestra concert.

With some of our favorite teachers, Mrs. Case who has

taught Jake in orchestra in 7th and 8th grade, and is now

also Ryan and Hailey's music teacher. And Mr. Jones,

Jake's 6th grade teacher, a great teacher and mentor.

Jake is almost as tall as him!

Hailey in her Indian get up for Thanksgiving.

Jake was a part of the Fiddlin Falcons at his middle school.

Jake loved playing basketball for the middle school, and

spent hours afterschool practicing.

Jake ran track again this year and did a great job!

First Day of School

Jake is going into 8th grade- same school,
no big deal.

Aubrey is 8 and in 3rd grade...she was just

ready to start school. No time for photos...

Ryan, in 5th grade, is also happy to be back

to school, but not about the photo op.

Hailey was having a hard time going into

1st grade. We took her first, but she was

nervous, so she went with us to drop off the

others. When it was her turn to go, she cried

a little, and I stayed with her for a few

minutes, then she was fine, and had a great day!

AS much as I love these kids, it was time to go

back to school and get back to their routine. And

time for me to have a little FREEDOM back! We

are all happy with the start of the new school

year!

Texas Trip!

The summer is almost over, and its time for one last
road trip to see our cousins in Austin, Texas.

The kids all had their electronics to keep them busy. Here
Hailey is showing off her snaggle tooth. We called her
"Hailey McPhee"! She refused to pull that tooth!

The kids all had a great time swimming every day,

and just hanging out with their cousins!

We went boating on the lake...

The girls made up dance routines and bonded over the

weekend.

On the way home we stopped at a hotel, and rested from

our 9 hour drive. We had a great time in Texas! Thanks

Summer Fun!

We are loving our puppy Daisey, and she is getting big
fast! She's so spoiled by the kids being home all day to
play with her.

It's so cute when she lays on her belly with her legs
stretched out!

Swim team practices every morning and

night and meets on Saturdays keep the kids

busy and cool!

Visiting the Braithwaites in their new house in Prescott,

AZ! The cousins had a blast together playing hide and

seek in their big house, while Staci and I had fun

organizing and putting up pictures!

The weather was nice and cool - in the 80s, but the kids

still found a way to get wet!

My Closet Make-over

BEFORE:
These are the shoes in my closet- always a mess, and
I can never find the pair I'm looking for when I'm in
a hurry, which is always.

AFTER :
With a little help from the guys at Lowes (who cut
all the wood for me), I finally have a home for my shoes!

BEFORE:
We have no linen closet in our bathroom, since
we opted for a bath, and they put our shower
where the linen closet would have been.

After:
Now I have plenty of room for all my stuff!

Aubrey and Hailey were a big help!
We listened to Justin Bieber for 3 days straight
and had some great bonding time.

The FINAL PRODUCT:
Now I love my closet! I just want to hang out
in there all day (it's the only clean room in
the house!)

Last Day of School

Hailey with her Kindergarten teacher, our
all-time favorite, Mrs. Baker. She taught
Ryan and Aubrey also, and retired after
this year. Hailey just loved her!

Yay! School's finally out! What should we do

to celebrate? GO FISHING! ( That was their

Dad's idea.) I thought I'd just bring a book and

get some R&R, but no such luck! The kids

caught about 11 fish! (And I was the camera

girl.)

So our day at Rose Canyon Lake was "the best day ever"

according to Ryan. Not that we even really like to eat

fish, but they have gone so many times and never caught

anything, this day was just too good to be true. But it was!

Introducing the newest member of our family....

This is Daisey! She is 4/12 weeks in this photo when we
went to look at her. John chose her because she was
so sweet and calm....

until we brought her home, and now she is teething and

biting us all the time!! At first it was soft and cute, so we

let her nibble on us, but now she is vicious and we have to

run away from her!! (Well, its not really that bad.)

She is 6 weeks old now.

She was so serious for her first bath!

Rosco wasn't sure what to think at first. She

kept running after him (probably because Rosco

looks like her mom and is about the same size)

He is getting used to her after a week now, and

is even playing with her a little. She has a little

house with a pink pillow outside , but she always

seems to find his big house and falls alseep on his

pillow!

And when she is inside,we treat her like our baby! Here

Jake has her snuggled in a baby blanket while they rest

on the couch.

Aubrey's Baptism

Aubrey finally turned 8 and was so excited to be baptized!

Snow Day!

We only live about an hour 1/2 from Mt. Lemmon, but
we don't go to see the snow very often, so it is a huge treat
for the kids when we go! We had to take off our flip flops
and the kids put ski bibs over their shorts- it was fun to
be cold for a little while!

The snow was melting fast, and we all kept sinking as we

walked.

A New Do!

Hailey has been wanting to cut her long, curly
locks for over a year now, but I always convince
her to just get a trim. This time, I caved, and
she loves her new do!

You can't see very well here how long her
hair was because the ends were so blond
and curly, but it was past the top of the chair.

She was so patient for the entire hair cut and style...

Jake's Orchestra with Rocker Violinist Mark Wood

Jake's orchestra got to practice with Mark Wood for a few
days and ended with a concert together. The music sounded
great! It was more like a rock concert than the middle school
orchestra concerts we are used to! (Although the Grandma's
and Grandpa's had to plug their ears after a while!)

Mark Wood was really great with the kids and got them all
excited about performing and let them take turns on his
electric violins. Aubrey and Hailey were a little freaked out
to see a man in such tight pants- Aubrey said, "I think his
skinny jeans are a little too skinny!" I had to agree- any man
who wears jeans tighter than mine, and who spends more
time on his hair than I do,....well, I guess that's why he's
the Rock Star!

Grandma and Grandpa's Homecoming from Costa Rica!

Here we are at the airport waiting for Grandma and Grandpa
to come off the airplane. The whole family was there- All
6 kids and all the grandkids except one who is living in
California. (Zack, we missed you!)

Here come Grandma and Grandpa Marx!

The girl grandkids rushed in first...

Then they got to meet the newest babies born into the Marx

family while G-ma and G-pa were away. This is Davis,

Michael's 4th child, but his first BOY!

I squeezed in and got my hugs!

Jake is now taller than Grandma!

Tylee and Taylor (Stephen and Jen's twins) were also

introduced for the first time!

We all went back to our house for some food and festivities!

We took a family photo after lunch at In-N-Out (true

Californians!) just before Mom and Dad went to get

released by the stake president.

24 Days and Counting!

We are now looking forward to the next exciting
event in our lives, and that is the return of my parents
from their mission in Costa Rica! As of today, they
will be home in 24 days. Aubrey keeps track and
changes the number every day. We love you Grandma
and Grandpa and can't wait to hug you again!

Christmas Eve

John's darling niece, Malorie, had a bridal
shower with just the girls in the family. It
was so fun for them to be a part of the party.

Later that night all the grandkids acted out the nativity
while Grandpa Oldham read the story from the Bible.
Aubrey has been wanting to play Mary for years, so she
asked in advanced and secured the part early. Hailey got
to be Mary's sister, and I think there was also a
"wise woman" in our version of the Christmas story!

The biggest reason Aubrey wanted to be Mary, was so she
could hold baby Jesus, (played by the youngest cousin, Sean)
She LOVES babies!!

Next, the kids dressed up Grandpa in his Santa
suit and he passed out a few early Christmas gifts-Pajamas!
The kids love Grandpa Santa! He reallys hams it up too
and plays the part well.

Christmas Eve dance to the Nutcracker

This is a Christmas Eve tradition in the Oldham family for as

long as I have been a part of them, (so at least 14 years)

to do the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy. Please excuse my

talking during the video- Lori was asking me about subbing

and I wasn't thinking that it would be so loud on the video!

Ryan's 4th grade field trip

The whole 4th grade went on a field trip yesterday to
Phoenix to see the State Capitol building and go to the
Children's Science Museum. Here is Ryan with his friends
on the bus at 7:30 a.m. I made him sit by me...

Here we are on the bus-we had to be there at 6:30 am! Too
early!

Ryan learned all about the state legislature!
I did too!

There were a lot of statues and memorials to look at. This
one was for Desert Storm.

We saw a 3-D IMAx movie about sharks and other under-
water creatures at the sicence museum. It was cool!

Here Ryan is riding a bicycle on a tight-rope
suspended from the 2nd story!!

Laying on a bed of nails. I did it too- didn't even hurt!

I was glad I got to go along. We had a fun day together!

R.S. Crafts!

We made these blocks at our VT conference last weekend-
they are so fun and easy! Our RS bought a vinyl lettering
machine so we can do all these crafts pretty cheap!

These aren't the traditional Christmas colors, but I like
them! It makes me anxious for Christmas- just around
the corner!

Piano Makeover

We have had this piano for about four years- it was handed down from John's sister, Bonnie, who got it from their sister, Laura and where she got it, I don't know. But I was inspired by my other sister-in-law, Ellen (also their sister) who painted her piano, and so I decided it was time this old piano got a new look!

After a few coats of paint and a new seat cover, this is the final outcome:

Not too bad for a total of about $6! I already had the paint,

so I just bought the fabric and 4 tassells. Now it matches

almost everything else in the house that I have painted black.

(John says we are goth!) I say I'm just living the old pioneer

philosophy" Fix it up, wear it out, make due, or do without"-

instead of my philosophy which has always been "fix it up,

wear it out, make due, or buy new!"

Halloween

Our Ward had a Halloween carnival and
chili contest. (John entered his famous
Javelina Chili, but sadly it didn't win. I guess
people don't like mystery meat in their chili??)
Hailey, as a kitty, had a pretty good arm for
throwing a football!

Aubrey was Dorothy, and even had Toto, but I ended
up holding the stuffed dog all day.

The cake walk was a big hit!

Jake dressed up as a middle school student.

Ryan (not pictured, wore his soccer uniform

from his game earlier in the day- he wasn't

in the mood to change.)

Ready to hit the streets! Ryan was too

involved in building a motorcycle he got

that day, so he stayed home to work on it.

Hailey is our "candy girl"- she lives for

candy!

Disney on Ice

We have a friend who works for the TCC and
gets us great seats for cheap to Disney on Ice!
Thanks Mandy! Here we are with my brother's
girls, Julianna and Natalie, before the show.

It was mesmerizing...

They even had the whole Cars gang there on the ice.

The little mermaid part was neat.

The finale was with Tink and the whole place
was covered in flowers!

And confetti was falling from the sky!

After enjoying ALL my hot chocolate, Hailey

asked me if we could get some more "coffee"!

Yes, the container did look like coffee, but I'm

pretty sure she knows we don't drink coffee.

Oh, a piece of confetti for a souvenir!

Ryan is a DECADE!

Ryan is finally double digits and has been looking forward
to this birthday for months. He made a request for a
special gift of his choosing- which happened to be the most
expensive Lego he could find.

So to make things more interesting, since he pretty much
knew what he was getting, we made him follow 10 clues
and go on a hunt for his present.

This Lego Technic Off Roader had over 1,000 pieces, and

he spend the entire day, and into the night, working on it.

That night, for our family party, Ryan chose to go to

Chilis for dinner (with Oldham cousins Lance,Keri

and Jason)

The kids all sat at the booth- Aubrey, Keri and

Hailey.

Little Jason got to sit at the big kids table!

Ryan is enjoying his favorite meal- chicken

tacos!

Grandma and Grandpa Oldham came, and Dale and Lori

and their crew also came to party with us.

Ryan requested his favorite cake- a carmel,

toffee oooey gooey cake. YUMMY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY RYAN! We LOVE YOU!

Jake's Orchestra Performance

Jake stood up to announce their first song and
we were all surprised (even Jake) to hear
the girls in the audience cheer for him and
call out his name!

John's parents got to come too. Jake's Gandma Oldham
is also his piano teacher!

Trip to Utah for Baby Blessings

My youngest brother, Stephen and his wife Jen, had twins
a couple months ago! My brothers from AZ and sister from
Las Vegas and I decided to go to Utah for a visit and for the
baby blessings.

Staci and I are loving feeding Tayor and Tylee!
Our babies are all grown up now! We enjoyed
every mintue with our new little nieces!

Stephen and Tylee!

Stephen and Jen were both so amazing with
their girls and were able to handle them
like pros! Their dog Roxy was just one of the
kids and loved to sit on the babies boppies or blankets
and play with their toys!

I hoped if the girls got to know me early in life,
I could claim to be their favorite Auntie!

Jen and I got to take a little break on friday and
got pedicures, then on Saturday we went to the R.S.
Women's broadcast at her church.

Stephen was a good sport about taking care of the
girls while we had our fun!

We went to Texas Roadhouse for a fabulous meal!

Here are the princesses on their blessing day!

And proud parents too!

We almost got the whole family together! Our oldest sister,

Valie, is in California and couldn't miss work, and Mom and

Dad are in Costa Rica on their 3rd mission!

After church we had a nice brunch of french toast,

sausage, bacon,and an array of fruits,

and then did what every good mormon family

probably does on the Sabbath.....

played guitar hero!

Here we are rocking with Bon Jovi...."I'm a cowboy,

on a steel horse I ride...." Daniel is on drums, Staci

and Stephen on guitar, and I'm on vocals.

Soccer Saturdays

I'm coaching Hailey's team this year. Not that I
know what I'm doing, but at her age, it's all about
having fun. I can do that!

We are hot and ready to go home!

Ryan didn't play this week because he has been sick!

add them to our blog.

Jake's get's 10th!

This is Jake's 2nd Cross Country Meet-
( I forgot the camera for his 1st one. )

The kids were excited to stand at the top
of the bleachers and watch him run all
around the field and park.

Jake was making good time. This is his

second lap.

Out of 60 boys, Jake came in 10th! WOW!

He was 10th last week too! He is the 2nd fastest

in his school. I don't pretend to understand

the drive to run, but his Grandpa Oldham and

several aunts and uncles on the Oldham side are

runners, so I guess it's in his blood!

We are so proud of Jake!!

Gone Tooth

After her first day of kindergarten, Hailey came
home from school and told me her tooth was loose.
She hadn't really noticed it before, but it was super
loose, so she went to my bathroom where she could
work on it in front of the big mirror.

Getting a little help and encouragement from

big sis.

"I have a gone tooth!" That's what my kids

say when they loose a tooth. Now she's just like

the big kids!

First Day of School!

at 7a.m.! It's so early! He was up at 6:15 am
getting dressed and anxious for the day.

I told the kids to stand on the grass for the
photo, but Aubrey said they weren't alllowed
on the grass, and she refused. She will follow
rules at all cost!

Hailey was so happy to go to her first day
of kindergarten! She already knew her
teacher, Mrs. Baker, because Ryan and Aubrey
also had her for kindergarten, so it was easy and
comfortable for her to go.

Aubrey was so axious to get to her class, when
we were saying our goodbye's to Hailey she
kept saying," Okay, Lets GO!"

Ryan was the last to get dropped off, and his
main concern while walking to class was
whether they would serve the breakfast pizza
or pig-in-a-blanket for the free breakfast that
day. That's my Ryan!

So now I'm home alone happy as can be!
Everyone was so excited to go this morning,
it was a happy day for everyone! And I even
have time to post these photos on the day
they were taken! Yea!

John's Birthday

John turned 36 today! We made him a cherry cheesecake

and gave him the few camo shirts and hat he had picked

out for hunting. The kids all made coupons for things they

would do for him including breakfast in bed, vacuuming his

car, and doing extra jobs. He pretends to blow out his

candle with a farmers blow!

My Old Shoes

I was shopping at Kohl's with the girls and
they were trying on all the high-heel shoes
in the ladies dept. I remembered that
I had saved a couple pair of shoes from when
I was 12 or 13, so the next day I looked in the
garage and found these old shoes in a box that
I had saved for almost 30 years, just so one day my
girls could see my favorite shoes and get to enjoy
them too!

They fit Aubrey pretty well, and she ran around

the house in them all morning! These 3 inch heels

are the ones I tripped in walking down the steep

stairs of Redwood Jr. High, tore my nilons, and

had the most embarrassing day of my life (up

to that point in my life!) Oh the memories!

Visiting our Las Vegas Cousins!

We went to Las Vegas for 10 days to hang out
with the Braithwaite kids while Staci and Paul
went to Costa Rica to see Grandma and Grandpa
Marx on their mission. Aunt Staci had fun things
for us to do everyday! Saturday we played on the
slip-n-slide.....

And the swings....

And played with foam weapons... (Shaeli has the sword
at the moment)

The Sunday morning activity was PlayDo ...

then after church, face painting!

Hailey is RAINBOW GIRL!

Jaklyn is turning Shaeli into a cat- and Shaeli was very

patient at first, but as the paint dried on her face, she got

a little freaked out so we had to wash it off.

I painted Jaklyn into a cat.

Shaeli loved her swing, and had plenty of people

willing to swing her. The weather was nice and

cool too,so it was perfect playing in the back yard.

It was so nice that we ate dinner outside every night.

Yes, I did say dinner, and Jake is still in his

PJs.

We actually spent a lot of time in our PJs! It was a fun

relaxing trip.

Another day of face painting- this time they did their own

faces in the bathroom mirror! Just practicing for when they

become teenagers and get to wear make-up!

Lazy Summer Days

The last day of school we went dirt bike riding....

....Rosco got to go with us and put his head out the window
for the first time in his life! He was loving it!

Aubrey and Hailey enjoy putting around together!

The kids were watching a movie in the loft, and when I saw
how they were all comfortably positioned in the room, I had
to take a photo! Hailey on the back on the couch, Aubrey on
the floor with a hanger in her mouth...This is what lazy
summer days are all about!

And Slippin Slidin... (if you look closely use can see they are
using medicine droppers to squirt each other!)

The Last Day of School!

Here is Hailey at her pre-school graduation. She was so happy to get that little diploma, she immediately turned to the guy sitting next to her and starting bonking him on the head with it!

We didn't get a photo with Aubrey's teacher on the last day because she was out on maternity, so here she is at Hailey's graduation loving the limelight.

As you can see, we were all taking this very seriously!

I am attempting to learn to blog, and I haven't got all the kinks worked out yet, but I'm going to figure it out pretty soon, and once I do, I might be able to let some people see it!

Aubrey was excited about the money she got for her birthday!

She finally got her very own scriptures!

Snow Day on Mt. Lemmon

We went to Mt Lemmon in February so the kids could see the snow and play in it. We loved it and the kids played so long, and got so cold, we finally left when they were in tears.

High School Musical on Ice!
